EEMA is Europe's leading independent association for e-Business and promotes collaboration concerning all technical (ICT) , legal and business aspects of e-business. EEMA puts the emphasis on today's practical issues. In this respect, EEMA's Legal Intrest Group, headed by Prof. Jos Dumortier, focuses on all legal aspects of e-business, i.a. electronic signature, einvoice, identity management, security legislation (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley in the EU), privacy, etc. On November 22nd and 23 rd this year EEMA will organise a two day seminar about electronic invoicing and electronic archiving in Brussels.
Since 1987, EEMA has been Europe's leading independent, trade association for e-Business, working to further e-Business technology and legislation with its European members, governmental bodies, standards organisations and e-Business initiatives. EEMA brings together over 200 member organisations, enabling members of the association to compare both theoretical and practical common and contrasting views and experiences on specific areas of e-business by holding subject-specific workshops. The subjects covered by EEMA depend on what the membership want at any one time, and the "hot issues" that arise in the ICT world. Recent topics were (each time both technical and legal aspects): identity management, messaging, web wervices, security, wireless, risk management, adaptive IT and e-Government (including electronic identity card).
EEMAs success is derived from the work performed by the Interest and Work Groups. The deliverables consist of reports and practical workshops. Recent past activities of the Legal Intrest Group include updates on: single payment area (highlights of the proposed EU new legal framework), on-line financial services and the transfer of technology (new EU block exemption in EU competion law)
If you are interested in becoming involved with an EEMA interest group, or would like to attend a seminar, simply write to Jane Hebson at EEMA.
